Clearing the Mind

A lady who had a yearning for self-realisation went to a teacher. The teacher asked her what she had seen on her way. She described how she had seen a monkey sitting under a tree. As she passed the monkey climbed the tree and made offensive gestures at her. The teacher instructed the lady to clear her mind of this image. The harder the woman tried, the less she was able to do this.

Protagonists in children's stories should usually be their own age, to help children identify with the experience demonstrated in the story. This protagonist is also too abstract. I don't "see" anything when somebody merely says "a lady."
The monkey's actions are also too abstract. You would want to have an animal and an action that is more scary; that is the type of thought that we would want children to learn how to let pass from their minds; a child having a nightmare would be a better image for a children's storybook.
